CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2006

The 2006 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup tournament was held in the USA in November. This prestigious event is the pre-eminent competition for women's national soccer teams in the CONCACAF region - North America, Central America and the Caribbean. CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football) is the FIFA confederation for the region and acts as the governing body of football in the area. The Women's Gold Cup tournament was first competed for in 2000, and for the 2006 event CONCACAF replaced the original trophy with a magnificent gold plated trophy cup supplied by Uppermost. Additional awards such as the Most Valuable Player award and Top Goal Scorer award were also supplied by Uppermost. Canadian striker Christine Sinclair and Abby Wambach of the USA hold the trophy cup (and lid) for Top Goal Scorer in the 2006 Women's Gold Cup tournament. They shared this honour with the Mexican players Maribel Dominguez and Monica Ocampo. The Top Goal Scorer trophy for this event was supplied by Uppermost.
